at BoostRoyal we want you to know What
to Expect from the 2021 MSI of League of Legends.
All the regional champion teams throughout the season automatically qualify
for an entry into the LoL MSI for a chance to win the base prize pool, as well
as another team slot in their respective region at the 2021 World Championship
(Worlds).
Format of MSI
The MSI 2021 format is divided into three parts: the Stages of Group Stage,
Rumble Stage, and Knockout Stage. Teams are divided into three groups based upon
their seeding during the Group Stage. All matches will be played in the
best-of-one (BO1) format, where the top two teams will progress to the Rumble
Stage.
The Rumble Stage is the initial stage of the MSI. It is a double-round robin
format, with matches also being played in best-of-1. Only four teams will
qualify to advance to the Knockout Stage.
The Knockout Stage is MSI's Semifinals and Finals. A mistake can be
disastrous for the other teams as this stage is played in single elimination
with games played in best-of-fives.
In the previous MSIs only teams selected were permitted to play on the
Play-In stage. Riot Games changed the MSI 2021 format, which puts all teams on
the same stage prior to the beginning of the tournament.
